2023 H&J Wrapped

As 2023 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on our first 12 months in business with our own version of #SpotifyWrapped. We are so thankful for the support we have received from our first clients, vendors, family and friends.

In January 2023, we officially left our corporate jobs and launched our company. We began working with Melissa Harans Studio on our branding and website, which went live later in the spring.

With the support of our previous employer, we continued working alongside the team at Lockton on key client programs. We picked up new clients along the way, resulting in 15 new (aka first!) clients in our first year. Nearly every new client that we picked up was through an introduction made by family, friends and colleagues we’ve worked with over the years, for which we’re incredibly thankful.

One of our biggest goals for our first year was diversity in the types of events that we worked on. We were thrilled to work on two weddings, four brand activations and styled shoots. These allowed us to flex our creativity and design muscles. We’re looking forward to working with more brands and companies on activations that connect them to their key constituencies in 2024. As for weddings, we’ll continue to take on select couples who are the right fit for us!

We were so thrilled to meet new vendors (who also became friends) this year. Our most frequently booked vendors included:

As we planned for certain events, we sometimes couldn’t find the rental options that were perfect for our clients… so, we made our own! With the help of our resident carpenter, we created beautiful high top tables, pedestals, a platform and more.

Our most exciting update was adding a member to our team, Sarah Grimm. Sarah started working with us in September as a part-time intern and quickly became an asset to our growing business. She will transition to full-time in January 2024, focusing on marketing, social media and client projects.

Finally, this year brought many laughs and good times… Including our photoshoot with Prince, the horse and distinguished model! We can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for Harper & James!
