Harper + James is named after two influential people in the founder’s lives: Harper for Sara’s father and James for Kristi’s grandfather, both of whom were entrepreneurs whose bar was set at perfection. Kristi and Sara met while working for Lockton, a large insurance broker based in Kansas City, and immediately connected over their shared family history of entrepreneurialism.

Sara was born and raised in Columbia, Missouri and moved to Kansas City after graduating from the University of Missouri. Her passion for events started at a young age when she was so inspired by the movie Free Willy, she held a Save the Whales fundraiser for the neighborhood when she was eight. Her passion for events and philanthropy has been a driving force in her career ever since. Sara loves working with clients to bring their vision to life through a perfect marriage of creativity and logistics.
